Chinese New Year 2010

New Year's is always a big event in Singapore, and this year wasn't any different...

DBD Playa

One good example of the benefits of modern technology: Collette's "DBD Playa". Without it, no long trips would be bearable. I've been brought up to think TV rots the brain, but now I'm not so sure. Collette's learned her ABC's from this player. She's started to sing Disney songs from Cinderella.

So I raise my glass to toast the inventors who designed the portable DVD player. To those brilliant engineers that made our DVD player robust enough to withstand Collette draining a full cup of water into it: I salute you.

Why are we posing, mommy?

Visitors from Singapore...

Popo, Gong Gong and Debbie Chua are in town to see little Collette.

We took them to see Debbie, Paul, Park and Evan in SF. Park is quite the charmer, and Debbie Chua was quite taken with him. It's the smile, you see. Evan is ultra-baby-cute and has a great middle name. Thanks guys for inviting us over for Paul's Spice Rubbed Steaks. The new house is really beautiful.

Then it was on to Monterey for a day, and then Lake Tahoe. Stella actually ended up winning enough at the Blackjack tables to pay for the hotel room!

The "new" Honda Pilot performed well and was able to seat all six of us and luggage semi-comfortably for the 9 hour trip back to Boise.

Easter Party at the Boise Zoo

Every year, the Boise Zoo would organize a Easter Egg Hunt Event/FunFair. There will be Easter egg hunt for different age groups. The volunteers would throw candies and eggs all over the ground and the respective age group would then rush in to pick as many candies as possible.

Collette was one of the few kids that rush in but it all ended when she picked up 1 sweet. She was standing there trying to get the wrapper out and enjoying her candy.

Hello World! Meet the Happiest Kid in Town

Our friend took this one. Her face is 99% smile, 1% spilled juice. Upon hearing this, Kumar said kids should be smiling all the time, without a care in the world.

In other news, we went to the department store to shop. Collette was eyeing a bike that was 4x her size. Elan says Divya is just starting to ride tricycles, so Collette can't be that far off. We have a hand me down tricycle from a friend in the garage that I'm planning on getting ready for the cute one. So we bought her a baby sized helmet in preparation for the spring.

Colds and Medicine

Collette caught a cold from one of the few kids at homecare. I'm really glad we moved to a homecare: looking back at the larger daycare she used to be sick continuously, with 5 ear infections in 1.5 years. Now it's just one cold over the winter plus one ear infection. It's a huge difference and one worth paying money for. There's nothing worse than having a sick child. They're so helpless and you can't do anything for them, especially because the stupid FDA pulled infant cold medicine off the shelf. I just noticed, they started to put back cough medicine for 2 years and above, so I was able to buy some for Collette. But Infant to 2 year olds apparently have to suffer because of a few idiots. That's one thing Singapore has right - they allow you and the doctors make decisions for your baby rather than one poorly governed body of doctors. Too much democracy is not any better than too little in this case.

Collette 2nd Birthday

Collette had her 2nd Birthday party and invited her friends. There was plenty of cake and toys for the little ones to play with, and Rockband for the adults. I don't know who had more fun! Collette got many wonderful toys. Thanks everyone!

We're Back and Blogging!

After almost a year, this blog is alive again with new pictures of lil' miss naughty face.

We all went to Hong Kong and then Singapore for Christmas. We took a tram ride up to the Hong Kong Peak. It was pretty much the highlight of the trip to Hong Kong, which was a blur of shopping and dim sum.

And now
: Here's the obligatory Collette with Santa picture for 2008! I'm impressed with the tricks the photographers had to use to get her to stay there without crying.

Best Buddies!

The one thing I like about Collette attending daycare is that she gets to hang around children of different ages. Stranger anxiety seemed less of a problem since she gets to see people/kids all the time.

Please allow me to introduce Collette's best buddy, Fisher. He is 3 months younger than Collette and they hang out with each other all the time. It is such a cute sight when they are playing together. Fisher is such a loving boy and he hugs Collette whenever Collette permits. The teachers in daycare call them the sweetest couple.....

First Visit to the playground

Finally, the weather got just a tiny bit better... It's time for Collette first visit to the playground... I'm always excited for her very first time experience in anything she does or learn. When I was a little kid, I had always looked forward to every visit to the playground and I remembered my all time favorite is the "THE SWING". How did Collette not get the good side of me??

Me & Santa

This is how Collette react when she first met Santa.
